Washi Craftsman Wataru HATANO
和紙職人 ハタノワタル
1971年淡路島生まれ。1995年多摩美術大学絵画科油画専攻卒。 大学時代に絵画の支持体として出会った和紙に興味を持ち,日本において過去より続いてきたものを継承し、次につなげていく仕事をしようと97年黒谷和紙にて紙漉きの修行をはじめる。 現在、和紙を漉きながら、その和紙を用いて空間づくりや絵画の制作を行う。
Born in 1971 Awaji Island. Graduated from Tama Art University, Department of Painting. Hatano became interested in Washi, a material he used in college as a base for his oil paintings, then began his training of Kamisuki technique for Kurotani-Washi in 1997. Currently, he no longer creates Washi paper but uses them to create unique spaces and paintings.

白い壁とカウンターは柳さんの作品が際立つよう心がけ制作をしました。背景として極力少ない要素で空間を作ることを心がけ、巾木に関しては空間の違和感を無くすためにご提案させていただきました。 様々な方々が使うという想定で全体的に耐水加工を施しています。
They were designed to enhance artworks by Mr.Yanagi. As a background, I created this space with as little material as possible, baseboards were proposed to blend everything together. I also applied water resistance treatment to enable a variety of usage.

久住さんの壁面の連続としての天板という意識で取り組みました。空間に馴染んだと思います。
Counter board was created as a continuous surface from the earth wall by Mr.Kusumi.
アイアン隧道内 黒いニッチ
Steel tunnels and black display space
トンネルの暗さに対して、少しの明るさを演出。そこに置かれるものが際立つように心がけました。 硬質な鉄に柔らかくなりすぎないように、和紙を施工後の着色に気を使いました。 そこに置かれるであろう壺と鉄を繋ぐものとしての壁を目指しました。
In contrast to the dark tunnels, the display space brings a slight warmth, enhancing the artwork. At the same time I carefully colored the applied Washi so it would blend nicely with the hard surface of the steel. This display wall was created to bring the artwork showcased and the steel wall together.
