Artist Yukinori YANAGI

現代美術作家 柳 幸典

Since 1986 Yanagi has continually presented artworks that address the issue of movement using different mediums, including dung beetles and ants. After receiving the Aperto Award at the 45th Venice Biennale in 1993, he relocated to New York and began exhibiting his work more broadly on the international scale. In 2008 he completed the long-term project begun in 1995, “Inujima Seirensho Art Museum” in Okayama, that repurposed the ruins of a former copper refinery into an art museum.
His work is in numerous international collections including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Tate Modern (London), National Gallery of Australia (Canberra), Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (Denmark), and The Warehouse (Texas).
